The all new Portable Cam 2 is easy to use, provided with SD memory, batteries and pre programmed ready to go.  All you need to do is mount the camera on a tree or post etc (belt provided) and switch the camera on. Links to a PDF User Manual , Brochure and Specifications are listed above.  A mini Colour monitor interface is also supplied with the covert digital camera.

How Does it Work?

When motion is detected (1-10m from the camera approx) the Portable Cam 2 will take a series of pre programmed  HI resolution 3-5 MP pictures which are auto saved to the internal SD memory card.  Each picture is time and date stamped to the exact second so you know precisely when the picture was taken and therefore when motion was detected.

How Many Pictures can it store?

The larger the memory card capacity,  the more images the SD memory can store.  For example, a 2GB SD card is able to store up to 2000+ 3MP pictures. A  4GB SD card some 4000+ pictures and 8GB obvioulsy double that again.  It's also possible to set how many photos you would like the camera to take once motion is detected.  It's totally at user discretion but  the  Portable Cam  2 can take 1, 2 or 3 photos as fast as 1.2 seconds apart and if motion continues, the same sequence will continue until such time as the movement stops. Programming the camera is as simple as checking boxes in the supplied mini monitor menu.

Portable Cam can be trained to take pictures from 1 second to 1 minute or 1 hour apart. Prefer Portable Cam  2 to take video rather than still shots, no problem this camera can do that too. Simply select the recording duration and in the menu press "video" rather than  pictures. Image resolution can be set between 3 to 5 mega-pixel. That’s a pretty serious photo and good enough to use in any photo album but what makes this camera so good is the ability to enhance the image as it was recorded in such high quality.

Provided with a 4GB memory card and 8 x AA batteries, (rechargeable type if preferred) Portable Cam can store up to 4000 or more images and each image is time and date stamped to the day, hour and second. Portable Cam 2 can be programmed to either STOP RECORDING when the memory card is full or RECYCLE meaning overwrite the earliest images first. Once again the user has the choice. At night Portable Cam 2 automatically switches to B/W mode and this is where the built in Infra red takes over.

See the B/W image on this page, this is not a doctored picture. It 's quite real and taken by Portable Cam  2i n complete darkness. Infra Red is not like a camera flash and does not attract peripheral vision. It is a dull red glow only that lasts only a split second. Portable Cam 2 will auto switch from B/W mode at night and back to colour by day. Strap the camera to a tree or post, turn the camera on and walk away.  It’s that easy!  You can even test motion detection distance when the camera in TEST MODE.

Portable Cam 2 is supplied with a mini colour monitor interface.  Connect the mini monitor directly to the camera  and play back without removing the camera from it's hidden position.  Option 2 connect the digital camera (lead supplied) to any TV or LCD and flick through the images using your mini interface.  The 3rd option is connecting the camera via USB (lead supplied) or remove the internal memory card, connect to any Windows or MAC PC via USB and see an entire list of thumbnails.  Any image can be expanded to full screen and saved to PC hard drive.

Often it is not convenient to remove the memory card for viewing as the camera then becomes inoperable.  We suggest retaining a spare memory card and spare rechargeable Lithium-Ion AA batteries.  When changing the batteries at the same time it;s a good idea to change the memory card then everything is fresh and ready to go again.  Look at the pictures on the used memory card when you have the time.
