Quick Overview

Do you have a problem at home or the office and need to know if someone is doing something they should not be?  We have a range of covert devices with built in motion sensors and built in digital recording when motion is detected.  Its all very discreet so if theft or intrusion is of concern, make no mistake these devices are sensational.

Hidden Camera Surveillance offers the PIR DVR CAM which basically looks like any other typical PIR alarm motion sensor (it is a real PIR as well) so does not look out of place in any home or office workplace, specially if you already have an alarm system.  Just like a normal alarm motion sensor, the PIR CAMERA should be mounted in the corner of a room as the built in High Resolution 520 TVL colour CCD pinhole camera has a wide angle view and ideal for any room large or small.  As soon as anyone enters the room, every movement (including audio) is recorded in real time to the internal HD SD memory card.

How Does it Work?

The PIR DVR Camera is not your average covert camera.  This is an "all in one" high resolution 480 TVL Sony CCD colour pinhole camera (excellent in low light as well) with a built in Digital Video Recorder (DVR) plus a super high gain pinhole microphone for crystal clear audio recording in sync with video.

It won't look out of place (specially if you already have an alarm system with PIR motion sensors) but the idea is to corner mount the detector (as it should be) and with the supplied 12V power supply, find a power point in the roof cavity which will keep the camera permanently powered.  If this is not convenient, some of our customers have run an extension lead to the camera for permanent 12V power.  If an extension lead is not possible then it may be timely to look at alternative devices such as our Clock Radio DVR, Tissue Box DVR, PC Speakers DVR or various battery operated covert cameras.  Battery operated is just as good except that devices of this nature have limited battery recording capacity of somewhere between and few hours and up to 24 hours.  See more Hidden Cameras here.

The PIR DVR camera covert pinhole camera lens provides a perfect horizontal view (not a direct down view) which is quite wide at near 100 degrees so ideal for any room or office large or small. The concealed camera will be able to see everything.  The HD SD memory card is hidden within the camera.

To setup simply connect the detector RCA lead to any TV monitor with an AV Input. All TV's have an AV IN.  From your monitor you will be able to see exactly what the camera can see so any adjustments can be made before activating.  You could also leave the camera permanently connected to a TV monitor if you desire.

Now the good part...how does it record?

This covert or hidden camera is supplied with an 8GB HD SD memory card although for longer recording, much larger capacity SD cards (up to 32GB) are available and acceptable. We also supply a wireless remote control so once the camera is connected to power or battery, motion detection recording is ON.  As soon as anyone enters the room, say within 15m from the detector, the built in DVR will record.  If there is constant motion the DVR will record the lot in real time and with clear audio.  It's completely silent and discreet.

When the person/s move away from the camera or out of the room, 15 seconds later the DVR will stop recording.  As soon as someone enters again, so the DVR will resume recording.  An 8GB SD memory card can store about 12 hours of real time video and audio however, by slowing the recording to 1/2 or 1/4 of real time speed (still quite fast) the memory capacity can be doubled or quadrupled.  The other option of course is to increase SD memory capacity but we find 8GB in most instances is more than sufficient.  It also depends on how much motion the camera detects over a period of time so some trial and error is required.  The are various ways to increase recording capacity from hours to even days of constant recording.  Call our toll free number for more information if required.

How Do I Playback Recordings?

Once again it very easy not rocket science!!  The PIR Cam DVR  kit is supplied with a wireless remote control and there are basically several options.  Lets assume that you have a TV monitor somewhere in the house or office. Run an RCA lead from the covert camera (lead is in the celing) and long enough to reach you TV.  Just like a DVD player to a TV, aim the wireless remote control at the PIR camera, select AV1 or AV2 on your TV and you will be able to see exactly what the pinhole camera can see.  Aim the wireless remote control at the camera and press Search.  You will instantly see a calendar and a list of motion detection events depicting time and date.  By simply selecting the date, press OK and a real time play back of all the motion detection recorded events at are you fingertips. Play all events in movie fashion, advance through the events, forward, backward, freeze frame or frame by frame, its very much like operating a DVD player.

Another option is to remove the internal SD memory card and if you like, replace it with a fresh SD card.  At your convenience, simply slot the SD memory card into a USB reader, connect to your PC and bingo, look at any or all of the AVI files with programmes such as Windows Media Player or VLC both of which are free programmes. Any file you need to keep, just copy and save to your PC for future reference. It's very easy and any Windows or MAC can do it.

Can this camera be used as part of an Alarm System?

The Alarm PIR is an active motion sensor supplied with alarm inputs and outputs.  Yes it could be interfaced as part of an alarm installation however we don't recommend that it replaces an alarm PIR.  It should be used in addition to.  If on the other hand you preferred the PIR camera records only when a certain door or window etc is opened, the alarm PIR camera can be interfaced with devices such as "reed switches" or some type of NO/NC relay switch.
