Lens Selection
Please note that Full Body CCTV Cameras are not supplied with a lens unless ordered. We supply a range of lens options. Lenses are available in fixed or focal lengths and in most instances installers prefer to use a 3.6-12mm auto iris vary focal lens. CS mount lenses are designed for all types of surveillance applications depending on needs. For example, with indoor use under normal non variable lighting conditions, then a fixed lens is fine.
If on the other hand this same security camera was to used outdoor, first of all a weather proof camera housing is required but an auto iris lens would also be better suited due to ever changing lighting conditions. Lenses vary in price from approx $45.00 through to about $135.00 depending on features and supplier.
Tamron is a Japanese manufacturer of camera lenses and as such the quality and price is higher compared to say a Chinese or Taiwanese manufactured similar lens. Think of CCTV Cameras just like a purchasing a TV. We all know that Sony & Panasonic TV units cost more than say an LG or Teac. They may look the same but in reality the two are quite different.
